Alex Cisneros Carey

AmeriCorps River Scientist

Alex is serving as the AmeriCorps River Scientist for SSI. She earned a BS in Environmental Science with a minor in Forestry at UC Berkeley. She focused on native California plant and vertebrate natural history and ecology. During school, she worked as a field tech on projects ranging from collecting parasitic ant colonies in Tahoe to snorkel surveying for salmonids in Mendocino rivers to sampling conifer roots for isotopic analysis of Nitrogen uptake. Alex helps manage SSI’s restoration sites and water quality lab, and uses spatial and statistical analysis to visualize and explore our two decades worth of water quality data.
