Providence Mine Spur Trail Completed

After a long, wet winter, spring is finally upon us (or at least just around the corner). So we are especially happy to announce the completion of the Providence Mine Spur Trail – just in time for hiking season!

The spur trail project adds approximately 700 feet of trail, extending from the Providence Mine site and the Deer Creek Tribute Trail. Led by Sierra Streams Institute’s Senior Geologist Kyle Leach, SSI scientists and volunteers, along with partners from the Bear Yuba Land Trust, worked to align the trail, clear and remove brush, and stabilize the slope to prevent erosion. Grass Valley Sign produced the signage that is installed at each end of the trail.

“Connecting to the land we live on is so important to our community,” said Joanne Hild, SSI’s executive director. “It’s very gratifying to see the trail system around Nevada City expanding and to be part of this collaboration with the City and our partner organizations.”

Many thanks to everyone who contributed their time and labor to make this happen!
