New Office Open House

Saturday, October 23, 3-6PM

Flyer for the New Office Open House Saturday, October 23, 3-6PM

More than one year after losing our office and laboratory to the Jones Bar Fire, Sierra Streams Institute (SSI) has a new place to call “home” again. We want to show you how we rose from those ashes. So, we invite you to come to celebrate with us and see our new space.

After two decades of work in the watershed, we’re excited to share what we’ve learned over the last 20 years, what we have planned for the next 20, and how you can be a part of our next chapter.

We want to reflect with you on our programs, including:

  1. Water quality monitoring in the Deer Creek and Bear River Watersheds
  2. Community health impacts of exposure from gold mining
  3. Forest health and resilience during current drought and wildfires
  4. New restoration projects around the local watersheds
  5. Hands-on youth lead programs investigating forest health
  6. California Naturalist Training

Refreshments will be provided.

As a community and citizen science organization, YOUR input plays a critical role in guiding our future. We strive to provide programming and conduct research that meets the needs of our community. While we have a lot to share, we also want to use this opportunity to hear community feedback.

Where: 117 New Mohawk Rd. Suite H (the event will be in the side parking lot, so please utilize the front parking lot, parking under the building, and on the road for space)

What to bring: all your pressing local ecology and science questions, a mask, and a cup for refreshments

We will be primarily outside with small group office tours to comply with Nevada County mandates and safe COVID practices. Masks will be required at all times inside and when physical distancing is not possible.

  1. I’m really interesting in (and hoping for) the return of the California Naturalist program!
