Jess works as a biologist for the BMI and water quality labs at Sierra Streams. She holds a B.A. in Biology from UC Santa Cruz and an M.S. in Ecology, Behavior, & Evolutionary Biology from Boston University. Her graduate research focused on the applications of citizen science data in uncovering patterns in the phenology and spatial distributions of mimetic butterflies throughout the eastern United States. Currently, she interested in studying the roles of indicator species within a community and identifying historical changes to riparian habitats and community structures in order to inform targeted monitoring and environmental restoration efforts. Outside of the lab, you can find her playing/performing music or climbing boulders somewhere deep in the forest.
