Director of Community Science

(530) 470-6037

Annika was born and raised in Maryland, and found her favorite habitat and home in the forests and waters of Maine. She earned a BS/MS in Earth Systems and an MS in Environmental Earth System Science from Stanford University. From winter to spring she taught courses in global environmental issues, soil science, and local and sustainable agriculture and researched the distribution and sources of hexavalent chromium in California’s groundwater. From summer to fall she led wilderness trips for teenagers in the wilderness of Maine. Annika migrated to Nevada City to teach science at the Woolman Semester School, and now is happy to be back at Woolman working for SSI! In her free time she tends two lush gardens with a particular passion for medicinal herbs.
