So long, Dorothy and Wes!

This week was the last week of Wes and Dorothy’s AmeriCorps term. We can’t believe it’s already been 11 months since they started!

Between PSPS’s, COVID-19, and our office burning down last month, Wes and Dorothy have truly had a unique AmeriCorps experience. But even with all of that disruption they’ve still managed to make the most of their year. Dorothy started out the year working on Our Forests curriculum and updating our website and volunteer management systems, while Wes assisted with water quality monitoring, restoration and data analysis for Lake Wildwood. During the second half of their term they both pitched in to monitor our sites on Deer Creek and the Bear River once we could no longer use volunteers, and kept up with restoration at Deer Creek Ranch. They have also learned several new skills for a project  modeling climate change, land use and water quality in the Deer Creek Watershed (see our previous blog post for more details about this!).

Currently, Dorothy and Wes are both back at their homes on the east coast. Wes will soon be starting a position with the EPA in North Carolina, and Dorothy is enjoying fall back home in Vermont while deciding what her next steps will be. We’ll miss both of these wonderful AmeriCorps!
