Sierra Streams Institute is excited to announce we are working and collaborating with Bear Yuba Land Trust on their Garden Bar Preserve Wetland Restoration and Riparian Enhancement Project which was awarded funding from the Wildlife Conservation Board. The Garden Bar Preserve is a 652-acre working cattle ranch that connect of 9,000 acres of conserved habitat in Nevada County, California. BYLT staff and SSI restoration ecologist will be working with volunteers and contractors to restore three acres of riparian wetland habitat on a degraded portion of Little Wolf Creek, just upstream of the confluence with the Bear River. Through the implementation process driven ecological restoration activities such as Beaver Dam Analogs (BDAs), wildlife habitat improvements, and native plant re-vegetation; the project will improve wetland function, groundwater recharge, hydrological connectivity, and improve habitat for rare and common wildlife species.
