Melissa Grim

Melissa grew up between the southern Rockies of northern New Mexico and the foothills of Mt. Diablo, and has always had a taste for outdoor adventure. During her undergraduate studies at UC Santa Barbara she worked in a research lab studying the impacts of introduced trout on emergent invertebrates in alpine Sierra lakes east of the Sierra crest. It was during this time that Melissa fell in love with the Sierra Nevada and decided to make a career of studying and protecting aquatic ecosystems in the mountains. Melissa graduated with her B.A. in Biology from UC Santa Barbara and spent a year studying the Sacramento Deep Water Shipping Channel in a lab at UC Davis. She found her way back to the Sierra through the Sierra Nevada AmeriCorps Partnership (SNAP) where she served for a year at American Rivers doing meadow assessments and restoration projects from Sequoia National Park to Lassen National Forest. Melissa is excited to take on her new position as the Chemistry Lab Manager with Sierra Streams Institute and continue researching and protecting watersheds across the Sierra Nevada.
