After thirteen years spent working in organic agriculture, Kale took a seasonal job with a locally based forestry and fuels reduction crew and dove headfirst into the world of regional ecology and restoration. Her lived, ‘on the ground’ experience spent navigating the forested contours of our watershed has provided her with an education in the significance of careful observation and informed stewardship, as well as a deep fascination with and love for the natural world. She is a generalist and hopeless idealist, happy to dedicate herself tirelessly to the opportunity to serve the landscapes and waterways she calls home. She can lift 50+ lbs and is able to sit, stand, kneel, and reach repeatedly for long periods of time. At home and in her spare time, she runs, swims, backpacks, gardens, writes, and reads voraciously.
