Evan Portier

Evan spent his childhood exploring the local forests and watersheds of Southern California. After graduating from UC Berkeley, he worked as a researcher on several long-term ecology projects, focusing on tree seedling growth and mortality. He went on to work in education and has spent the last six years working at outdoor schools and in several national parks as an education ranger. As SSI’s Education Project Manager, he wants students to become experts in their local watersheds and engage with the greater community about forest ecology, all while expanding their science skills and practices.
